A true soft-top roof with elongated fins emphasises the coupe-like lines of the Audi R8 Spyder V10. The roof can be opened and closed fully automatically with a single touch of a button – when moving at speeds between 5mph and 31mph. It takes just 19 seconds for the Audi R8 Spyder V10’s roof to fully open or close. To add to the purity of the pleasure, the rear window can be lowered leaving you to enjoy the roar of the ten cylinders even when the hood is closed.
Room to enjoy
High-performance sports cars have a reputation for being cramped, hot, difficult to drive and uncomfortable - and that reputation isn’t entirely unjustified. However, the Audi R8 Spyder V10 re-writes the rule book. Every modern automotive feature and convenience you could require is supplied.
So you don’t sacrifice comfort for magnificent performance.
Monoposto styling puts everything at your fingertips
Everything you need is right where you need it to be. Monoposto architecture creates a sweeping dash that keeps everything within reach – when your hands are on the steering wheel, all controls are within 30cm. Combined with manual or R tronic gear shift, everything is in place. You get fast gear changes, minimal movement and a true driving experience from the moment you pull away.
Speaking of pulling away, the R tronic gearbox features ‘launch mode’. Place one foot on the brake and the other on the accelerator. The engine will balance to precisely 3,500rpm. Remove your foot from the brake and prepare for breathtaking acceleration from a standing start.
A design feature with style and functionality
With the roof up the R8 Spyder keeps the unmistakable side profile of its stunning Coupé sibling although with one main difference; rather than the characteristic contrasting sideblades of the Coupé, fully functional, body coloured side air inlets scoop fresh air into the engine and cooling the brakes, helping to the maintain optimal running temperature.
With the roof down the R8 Spyder is in its element - breathtaking!
Form, function, flow
Air flows through and around the Audi R8 Spyder thanks to its diffusers and side intakes. A blend of form and function, they define the beauty of the design but also cool the brakes and engine. They’re also integral to the R8’s breathtaking speed and unbelievable cornering.
When sensors detect a speed of above 74mph, a rear spoiler is automatically deployed for increased downforce but the spoiler can also be raised manually with a button from inside the cockpit.
