Audi SQ5

The acclaimed Audi SUV makes history as a Bi-TDI with 313PS, creating a brand new breed of 'S' models.

Unveiled on the eve of the Le Mans 24 hour race in 2012, it sparked a great weekend for Audi and a textbook demostration of 'Vorsprung Durch Technik' with the Audi R18 TDI powered cars claiming a one-two in the event.

Scheduled opening for UK order will be in October 2012 and prices are expected to be around £45,000. First deliveries of the SQ5 are currently on course to come in Spring 2013.

Lowered ride height

Overall ride height will be lowered by 30mm with the help from enhanced sport suspension. On top of this there will be added assistance from electromechanical power steering, making the handling sensitive and highly efficient.

Standard 20-inch wheels stand out with a 5 parallel-spoke design along with black brake callipers with 'S' badging. Optional wheels measuring 21-inches will be made available.

3.0 Bi-TDI engine

Producing 313PS, the SQ5 will be powered by a state of the art 3.0 Bi-TDI engine. 0-62mph will be dealt with in just 5.1 seconds leading to a governed top speed of 155mph. The experience of such power is enhanced by the specially developed sound actuator in the exhaust system which enriches the exhaust note.

With the help of innovative thermal management, engine start-stop technology and a regulated oil pump, the SQ5 will still deliver an economy of up to 41.5mpg according to the official combined cycle test.

The TDI engine more than makes the grade to be fully considered as part of the prestigious 'S' series, mainly thanks to its two turbochargers which are connected in series via a flap.
