S-Tronic -Seamless gear changes

Unlike a conventional manual gearbox, S tronic transmission has a twin multi-plate clutch. So if the Audi Q3 is accelerating in second gear, third would be automatically pre-selected, ready for the change – which happens virtually instantaneously, just like in a racing car.

The S tronic can make a gear change in just 0.2 of a second, with no interruption to the power flow, allowing you to benefit as fully as possible from the engine’s output at all times.

Safe lane changing

The optional Audi side assist offers safe lane-changing even if there’s another vehicle in your blind spot. At speeds over 40mph, it monitors the area to the rear and sides of the car and detects whether the lane is occupied by another vehicle. If it is, LEDs on the corresponding door mirror warn you before you begin to pull out.

Stay in lane

For greater safety and convenience, particularly on motorways and main roads the optional Audi active lane assist helps you stay in lane with gentle pulses through the steering wheel.

Using a tiny image recognition camera which watches the lane markings on either side of the Audi Q3 the system knows if you veer too far right or left and you’re in danger and so it will gently intervene by giving a corrective steering prompt to alert you. If you change lanes using your indicators, the system knows that’s safe and temporarily switches itself off.

The driver has a choice of two settings in the MMI:

Steering intervention early: Continuously helps the driver to stay in lane with steering impulses that centre the vehicle in its lan
Steering intervention late: Alerts the driver that the vehicle is possibly crossing the lane markings at the same time as providing a corrective steering prompt

Saving you fuel - Start-stop technology

All engines available on the Audi Q3 feature start-stop as part of their fuel saving technology.

In traffic, your car still uses fuel and releases CO2, even when it’s stationary. The automatic Start-Stop function is a smart new technology that counteracts this problem by being able to switch off the engine when your Q3 comes to a standstill.

As soon as you touch the clutch (or brake pedal on S tronic® models), the car restarts. By only using the engine when it’s needed, it helps to save fuel and reduce emissions – especially in heavy urban traffic.

Brake system

The brake system on the Audi Q3 combines short braking distances, sensitive control and optimum cooling, for a consistently effective performance even after repeated applications. ABS antilock braking and EBD provide extra peace of mind if you need to stop suddenly.

SIDEGUARD®

In the event of a side impact, side airbags will activate, helping to prevent occupant injury. The head-level airbag covers the entire front and rear side-window of the Audi Q3, including the A-post area.

Intelligent airbag system

In the event of an accident, intelligent impact sensors – including an innovative ‘up-front’ sensor – will detect the severity and nature of the impact and trigger the appropriate occupant protection systems, amplifying and reinforcing the safety of the Q3.

Head turning quality

The Audi Q3 was built to break the mould. With a long, broad body, Coupe-like roof line and smooth, sweeping lines, it deliberately avoids the traditional ‘boxy’ look of an SUV. And with its low lean-forward stance and muscular, flared wheel arches the Q3 has an abundance of sporty character. In fact, it has a drag coefficient of just 0.32.
