SYTNER SOLIHULL OFFERS MASTERCLASS
SYTNER SOLIHULL TEAMS UP WITH LOCAL SCHOOLS AND LOCAL LONDON 2012 HOPEFUL TO OFFER MASTERCLASS.
As part of their continued support of local archer, Naomi Folkard, Sytner Solihull joined with three local secondary schools to host a master class for twelve children at Shirley Golf Club. Each school selected four students and their selection was based on who had shown a dedication to sport in 2011 and 2012. They hosted one session in the morning for six students and then another session in the afternoon at Shirley Golf Club.
Naomi is currently training hard, as she is representing Team GB at the London 2012 Olympic Games. The students from Arden, Tudor Grange and Solihull School joined her for a training session.
Naomi said: “I had a really fun day coaching the students! I went through an introduction to archery, my training schedule and what is was like to be an Olympic athlete. Then myself and my parents coached the students and they were able to have a go at archery! Some of the students had done it before and some hadn’t so it was a really good mix. They did so well on the day.”
“I have just got back from USA where I didn't shoot quite as well as I would have liked. So I now have some keys points to focus on during the days leading up to the games. I'm still confident that I will compete at a high standard during the games. This was just a blip coming just 2 weeks after I won silver at the European championships in Amsterdam.
Dealer Principal at Sytner Solihull, Richard Hickling added: “We are really proud to be supporting Naomi and we are pleased to have this opportunity to encourage kids to get involved in sport and excited about the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
