The Ferrari California is the first Ferrari Gran Turismo with a mid-front 8-cylinder engine: a vehicle that uncompromisingly combines sportiness with versatility, guaranteeing the maximum driving pleasure characteristic of cars from Maranello. Like all new Ferraris, this model also contains a wealth of leading-edge technological solutions, starting with the new direct petrol injection V8 engine mounted in a frontal position and coupled (via the traditional transaxle system) to a dual-clutch transmission and seven gears.

The California is a convertible GT with a retractable hard-top, making it a car with a dual soul: coupé and spider rolled into one. It is based on the original 2+ concept, which provides great flexibility for use in different driving conditions.

While the California is an extremely innovative car, its philosophy recalls the spirit of a great Ferrari from the past: the 250 California of 1957. This was a car of rare elegance, a car born to race, that has since become a symbol not only of sportiness and innovation, but also of exclusivity, craftsmanship and great refinement.

When designing the California, Pininfarina opted for a classic, sculpted chassis, with a long bonnet and the passenger area slightly weighted towards the rear. The side of the car features a strong, dynamic, raked line. The line lifts at the height of the door handle to trace the outline of the typical Ferrari rear bumper. The air intake in the front bumper is enhanced by a traditional grille. The slender air intake vent on the bonnet and the side air vents both echo distinctive features of the 1957 Ferrari California 250.
