Aylesford Bulls Charity Event

Aylesford Bulls Rugby

On Friday the 25th April the Aylesford Bulls RFC welcomed the current England Captain, Catherine Spencer, to lead the presidents XV in a charity match against the Bulls.

The Invitation match was the club’s opportunity to celebrate the success of the ladies team and our sponsorship this year as well as at the same time remembering former ladies captain, Natalie Garrett, who was instrumental in the early years of ladies rugby at Aylesford. Natalie was an inspiration to everyone and continues to be so for the Ladies Rugby teams at Aylesford. Natalie, some two years ago, sadly lost her battle with cancer aged just 27 years young. Natalie had a zest for life both on and off the field and despite her battle with the terminal illness, she refused to let it interfere with her passions in life.

The night was about Natalie’s love for the sport and at the same time raising money for Demelza House Children’s Hospice, a charity close to Natalie’s heart, as well as the Maidstone oncology unit at Maidstone hospital.

The night was rounded off with a curry and a charity auction which included  a number of great prizes, a box at Brands Hatch for a day and a Jaguar XF for the weekend being donated by Guy Salmon Maidstone, which raised £375.00. The night was a huge success with £1,125.00 raised on the gate and in the charity buckets and £1200.00 on the auction. The final amount raised still being counted.
