Guy Salmon Land Rover Knutsford help The Red Cross
Guy Salmon Knutsford gives Red Cross volunteers the ‘off-road’ driving experience
Two groups of British Red Cross volunteers from Cheshire got into top gear for an off-road driving experience thanks to the help of Guy Salmon Land Rover Knutsford.
The dealership set up two 4x4 training days for the First Aid volunteers, who will be able to use the skills for navigating tricky terrain when they are helping vulnerable people or responding to people in emergency situations.
According to Rick Hawkes, Red Cross Volunteer: “The day was fantastic and great fun but more importantly I now have a bit more confidence when driving off road.”
Red Cross volunteers visited vulnerable people in isolated spots across the area when the snow hit Cheshire earlier this year.
The British Red Cross is always looking for volunteers across the Cheshire area particularly in Chester, Crewe, Nantwich, Warrington, Widnes & Winsford. If you are interested in becoming a first aid volunteer, please contact LScott@redcross.org.uk or 01565 650201. For more information about the Red Cross or if you are interested in other volunteer opportunities please visit www.redcross.org.uk.
British Red Cross volunteers – fully trained in advanced first aid – are ready to help at any occasion across the UK, from a community event to stadium-sized rock concert. When accidents happen or illnesses take hold, their knowledge can be vital in saving lives or preventing further injury. On average, Red Cross first aiders treat thousands of serious injuries and save several lives every year.
