Guy Salmon Land Rover Thames Ditton Sponsor the London Double Header Golf Challenge 2009 At Burhill Golf Club

As a curtain raiser to the London Double Header Rugby at Twickenham on Saturday 5 September, Burhill Golf Club staged their own London Double Header Golf Challenge on Wednesday 2 September. All in aid of touraid, 40 golfers including past and present rugby stars Mike Catt, Guy Gregory and Jamie Leonard battled it out on the magnificent New Course at Burhill Golf Club for the honour of the London Club of their choice.

Said Chief Executive of touraid, Andy Berry, “What a great way to support your favoured rugby club while supporting the developing nation’s rugby enthusiasm” Touraid was set up 2 years ago with the vision of building lasting relationships between children from the African nations and children of the UK through a love of rugby.

A magnificent 265 yard drive by Esher’s Director of Rugby, Mike Schmid, won him a longest drive prize of a 4 x 4 Driving Experience generously donated by Guy Salmon Land Rover Thames Ditton, who sponsored the day. The winning team led by Mick Riley included Rob Berry, Richard Crook and Mike Catt - so London Irish became the London Header Golf Champions for 2009.
