Guy Salmon Thames Ditton Warm Up The Parents For The First Land Rover Premiership Cup Of 2009
Nine clubs took part in the first Land Rover Premiership Cup staged at The Stoop on Saturday 31st January, but it was Richmond under 11s and Wimborne under 12’s who lifted the trophies.
It was a bitterly cold day however Guy Salmon Thames Ditton were delighted to be on the sidelines to serve hot drinks to dedicated parents; whilst they watched their children battle it out on the pitch.
Harlequins winger Charlie Amesbury was on hand to meet the boys and girls and present the medals. He commented “It’s so important for sponsors such as Land Rover to invest in the grass roots level of the sport as well as the elite end. How else are we going to unearth the next generation of Nick Easters or Ugo Monyes. I used to love playing in festivals like this and kids today are having a great time.”
Once the festival was over, all the teams stayed at the Stoop to watch the Harlequins beat Northampton Saints and the winners were lucky enough to be invited onto the pitch at half time for a photograph.
