Lexus ranked 'Most Reliable' as motorists face MoT problems

MoT Certificate

Motorists regularly curse Milton Keynes, the town with more than 300 roundabouts!

Now official figures show they have good reason to do so with an abnormal number of cars failing their MoT test because of suspension and handbrake problems.

More than one in ten of MoT failures in Milton Keynes were due to defective suspension and brake, more than 60 per cent higher than the rest of the country.

An array of geographical quirks emerged from an analysis of 24.5 million MoT records obtained by Honest John, The Daily Telegraph’s motoring agony uncle, which also revealed that one in five cars flunked their first test. Detailed information is available on honestjohn.co.uk – the first time this information has ever been available to the public in such detail.

“Hard-pressed families can take this information and use it to ensure that they’re not failing an MoT on something that can be easily fixed beforehand.”

Overall the figures showed that 352,000, 20 per cent of the total, failed their first MoT with lighting and signalling the biggest cause, accounting for 164,837 of the total.

European manufacturers fared worst, but at the other end of the scale, the Japanese emerged as the most reliable with the top three places being taken by

1 - Lexus.

2 - Suzuki.

3 - Honda.
