The Lexus NX

Sculpted and rewarding – the crossover SUV like no other

The magnificent Lexus NX enters a competitive crossover SUV class at the very top, bringing with it a bold and unmatched look, clean yet capable performance, and masses of innovative technology.

Exterior design features

This inspiring model impresses from the very first glance, with sharp details and contoured panels giving it a confident profile. A characteristic spindle grille remains on the front and dominates the nose, positioned between narrow headlamps with angular LED daytime running lights just below. Further LED lighting is found on the rear tail-lights and stop lamp, which is integrated with the rear spoiler – another sporty feature. Large 18-inch alloy wheels and a twin exhaust set-up are two more stylish highlights, while the standard silver roof rails show that Lexus has not overlooked the need for practicality.

Interior design features

Further functional design elements are located inside the cabin, which seats five in luxurious comfort. The rear bench splits and folds to offer a number of storage and passenger-carrying options, and with it upright there is ample space for a full complement of adult occupants. The drive is just as relaxing up at the front, where an ergonomic cockpit stretches around you. A high ride position offers an excellent view of the road, and all of the car's functions have been placed exactly where you would expect to find them for ease of use. Bringing the outside in is F SPORT styling as standard, with highlights including F SPORT leather seats, steering wheel, sports pedals, scuff plates, aluminium effect trim, and black roof lining.

There's no shortage of equipment either, and a variety of features are controlled directly through the seven-inch Lexus Media Display. A DAB digital tuner, Bluetooth® mobile phone connectivity, USB input and AUX-in socket are all included across the range. Dual-zone climate control allows occupants to set their preferred cabin temperature, and Lexus has also fitted a Convenience Pack at no extra cost. In addition to a wireless smartphone charger, this features a power tailgate.

Distinguishing the NX 200t from the NX 300h is its powertrain, with the latter getting Lexus' hybrid system. This combines a 153bhp engine with a strong electric motor, and both two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive variants are offered. The two-wheel model emits from 116g/km of CO2 as it returns up to 56.5mpg combined. Choose the 235bhp 200t if a more energetic drive is desired – it carries the vehicle from 0-60mph in around seven seconds and attains a top speed of 124mph. Altering the performance is Lexus' Drive Mode Select with three settings. Eco tunes the performance for optimum efficiency, while Sport delivers greater responsiveness from the drivetrain. Switch to Normal for a smooth drive in all conditions.

Accompanying the NX's strong performance are equally impressive safety capabilities. More cutting-edge technology features in this area, where a number of active systems work together to keep you out of trouble.

Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) with Traction Control (TRC) helps the crossover remain poised when under strain, while Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) ensures controlled slowing and stopping. Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) and Emergency Brake signal are two other standard technologies, which are supported by multiple cabin airbags and an ISOFIX child restraint system.
