Mercedes-Benz of Bath shows its support for local football
Bath City Academy FC is kicking off the new season in style by revealing that they have teamed up with a major new supporter.
Mercedes-Benz of Bath has agreed to sponsor City for the 2010/11 season – the announcement coming just days before its under-15s play in a major tournament involving 40 top sides from all over the country.
The youngsters will be travelling to Market Harborough FC in Leicestershire on Sunday (1st August) to compete in the All Cities Elite Shield – a competition featuring only teams that have won their respective leagues or have been invited to take part because of their reputation.
The tournament could provide the first outing for some of the new kit provided by Mercedes-Benz of Bath to all players within City’s five age groups as part of its sponsorship agreement. This includes rain jackets, holdalls and polo shirts – the Peasedown St John retailer is also the main shirt sponsor on the club’s all-red away strip and its logos will appear on the home kit too.
“To have secured such a prestigious sponsor as Mercedes-Benz going into our second season is absolutely huge and the brand association demonstrates the level of professionalism with which the club is run,” said Academy Director Martin Brock.
Involving some of the best young footballers in Bath and the surrounding area, Bath City Academy plays in the Junior Premier League against teams as far afield as Burton-upon-Trent and Hereford.
Commenting on Mercedes-Benz of Bath’s involvement, Dealer Principal Tim Sett added: “Bath City Academy is very much focused on the highest quality in terms of coaching and playing standards and we share the same ethos. We’re delighted to be able to help local football at grass level but also support an organisation which, like ourselves, always strives to operate at the top of its game.”
