Super heroes, beach parties and marathon cycle rides!
Sytner Mercedes-Benz, smart and Dodge, Chrysler Jeep dealerships raised an incredible £4644 and plenty of smiles among customers for Comic Relief.
‘Do something funny for money’ was the theme of this year’s event and staff certainly did that – staging an array of wacky stunts for the BBC campaign.
Activities included staff dressing up as their favourite superheroes, a guess the baby competition and an 80s themed barbecue. One dealership even converted its showroom into a beach for the day.
Top individual fund-raiser was Mercedes-Benz of Swindon After Sales Manager David Churchill, who swapped four wheels for two to cycle between his own place of work and the Mercedes-Benz sites in Newbury, Bath and Bristol. Pedalling 132 miles in 11.5 hours, David raised an impressive £350 – his support crew collecting donations along the route.
Commenting after the ride David said: “On a serious note, 132 miles is easy, compared with what I watched on Comic Relief on Friday night, I’m just glad to be able to do something to help.”
Well done to everyone, who participated, contributed or helped to organise one of these Comic Relief events. Given the current economic climate, it is fantastic that such a significant amount has been raised for such a worthy cause.
