Mercedes taking social responsibility with new super car
News brought to you by Sytner Group, specialists in new Mercedes and the UK's leading retailer of prestige vehicles.
Mercedes is aiming to develop the sportiest electric car ever, by taking its social responsibility very seriously, according to an industry expert.
Ola Kallenius, chairman of the board of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, said that the new SLS AMG E-Cell car is a project which will provide motoring enthusiasts with a powerful and locally emission-free sports car.
"It is our goal to continually reduce the fuel consumption and emissions of new models in the coming years, while at the same time enhancing the core brand value of performance," he added.
The car features a ground-breaking drive system, which gives powerful traction through four synchronous electric motors with a combined output of 525hp and a torque of 880Nm.
It will accelerate from 0-62mph in just four seconds, putting it on the same level as the SLS AMG, which can reach the target in just 3.8 seconds, thanks to its 6.3-litre V8 engine.
According to Auto Express, the car could cost £250,000, which is £100,000 more than the petrol SLS.
