Mercedes-Benz of Weston-super-Mare Conjures up Some Animal Magic
Mercedes-Benz of Weston-super-Mare certainly did not ‘paws’ when they were approached to support the Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary Fun Day.
The Bridge Road retailer was delighted to donate a luxurious Mercedes-Benz picnic hamper to be auctioned off at the charity’s annual event, which takes place at Ashton Court near Bristol on Sunday 17th July. It will feature dog shows, pet photography sessions and children’s entertainment, including rides, a bouncy castle and face-painting. The hamper will be going under the hammer alongside a variety of other lots donated by local companies, including day passes to local attractions, restaurant vouchers and hair and beauty treatments.
As the biggest fund-raiser on the Holly Hedge calendar, proceeds will be channelled into the day-to-day running costs of the Barrow Gurney sanctuary where rescued animals – predominantly dogs and cats - have been cared for since 1992.
“Last year the Fun Day generated £8,500 which provided a vital source of income for us given that our veterinary bills last year alone were in excess of £70,000,” said Volunteer Nicky Leeson. “Cold calling for donations can be a thankless task but the response from Mercedes-Benz of Weston-super-Mare really stood out as they were very friendly and only too keen to help us out.”
Rupert Knibbs, Mercedes-Benz of Weston-super-Mare’s General Manager, added: “You can only admire the sterling work undertaken by the volunteer team at Holly Hedge in looking after unwanted and abandoned pets. We hope that the Fun Day proves hugely successful and raises as much money as possible to enable them to continue providing such fantastic levels of care and comfort for these animals.”
