Local schools design roof for Sytner Solihull MINI
Morgan Evans, age 11, from Hockley Heath Primary School has won herself an iPod Shuffle and £500 for her school in a competition run by Sytner Solihull to design a London 2012-themed roof for a MINI.
With the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games fast approaching, the MINI dealership has been promoting sport in the local area and encouraging school children to get involved in this summer’s biggest sporting event.
The dealership invited children from local schools to enter a London 2012-themed art competition for a chance to win £500 to spend on sports equipment for their school, as well as an iPod Shuffle for themselves. The children were asked to design a custom roof for a MINI based on the Olympic Games in celebration of MINI’s support of Team GB and ParalympicsGB.
The judging panel consisted of the Deputy Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Irene Chamberlain, and staff from the Sytner Solihull: Richard Hickling, Dealer Principal; Andy Taylor, MINI Brand Manager; and Nicky Collett, Business Administrator.
The winning design was unveiled at an event at the dealership on Sunday 24 June by Team GB Archer Naomi Folkard, the local athlete that Sytner Solihull is supporting ahead of the London 2012 Games. Naomi congratulated Morgan Evans on her excellent design and presented her with her prize, a cheque for the school and a first place medal. There were also medals for second placed Emily Barrington, aged 9, from Cheswick Green Primary School, and third placed Harry Owen, aged 10, also from Hockley Heath.
The winning design is on display in the Sytner Solihull showroom and the dealership is inviting people to drop by and take a look for themselves.
