Your MINI has a range of warning and service lights that give you vital information about its status, from urgent issues to helpful reminders.

Below, you’ll find a general guide to warning and service lights – what they mean and what you need to do.

Some models display different lights, so we recommend checking your MINI’s manual.

YOUR COMPLETE GUIDE.

GREEN - Informs you of the functions that are switched on and do not currently require any further action.

YELLOW - Action is required and you should have your MINI checked at one of our Service Centres.

RED - There may be an urgent issue with the vehicle which needs immediate attention. When it is safe to do so, pull over as soon as possible and seek roadside assistance.

SERVICING LIGHTS.

ENGINE OIL SERVICE.

MICROFILTER SERVICE.

REPLACE BRAKE FLUID.

CBS VEHICLE CHECK INSPECTION.

MOT.

RED LIGHTS.

SEAT BELT REMINDER.

A seat in use does not have the seat belt fastened.

What to do: Fasten the belt correctly before driving. If an occupant does not have their seat belt fastened while driving, an alert beep will begin to sound.

AIRBAG SYSTEM.

There may be a fault with the airbag system or belt tensioner.

What to do: Take the MINI to one of our Service Centres to be checked.

PARKING BRAKE.

If the light shows when the brake is released there may be a fault.

What to do: Ensure the parking brake is fully released by lifting it slightly, pressing the button and moving it down.

If still visible when disengaged, pull over and call for recovery. Have your MINI checked at one of our Service Centres.

YELLOW LIGHTS.

ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS).

A fault has been detected in the ABS system and may not be functioning correctly.

What to do: Get the MINI checked at one of our Service Centres as soon as possible. When driving take extra caution when braking as stopping distance may be increased.

DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL (DSC).

A STEADY LIGHT can indicate that there's a fault in the DSC system.

What to do: Get the MINI checked at one of our Service Centres.

A FLASHING LIGHT signifies that the DSC is activated and regulating acceleration and braking forces.

What to do: Lower speed and adapt driving to the road conditions.

DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL (DSC) OFF.

DSC has been deactivated, whether on purpose or by mistake.

What to do: Switch DSC back on if turned off in error. Contact one of our MINI Centres if assistance is required to do so.

TYRE PRESSURE MONITOR (TPM).

A tyre pressure change has been detected and the icon may flash if tyre pressure rises.

What to do: A flashing light indicates the tyres need topping up or deflating. Simply let some air out until recommended pressure is achieved if deflating is required. If tyres need topping up, drive with care until this can be carried out - follow recommended pressure according to the owners manual.

STEERING SYSTEM.

There has been a fault detected with the steering system.

What to do: Get the MINI checked at one of our Service Centres.

EMISSIONS.

A fault related to the engine has been identified.

What to do: Get the MINI checked at one of our Service Centres.

REAR FOG LIGHTS.

The rear fog lights are switched on and in use.

GREEN LIGHTS.

SEAT BELT REMINDER FOR REAR SEAT.

TURN INDICATOR.

SIDE OR DRIVING LIGHTS.

FRONT FOG LIGHTS.

CRUISE CONTROL.

MANUAL SPEED LIMITER.
