What Car? magazine have presented the Porsche Boxster with the overall Sports Car of the Year accolade for the third time in a row. The annual awards ceremony marks the unofficial start to the motoring year and sees manufacturers competing for each highly coveted category win.
The Boxster's third win of the Sports Car of the Year category speaks volumes for the incredible Porsche sports car; demonstrating that, even when compared to the rest of the market by journalists with vast knowledge and experience within the automotive world, it is always regarded highly. When commenting on the victory of the Boxster, What Car? said:
“It would be easy to dismiss the Boxster as a poor man's 911. That couldn't be further from the truth. Although its modest 265hp is no better than the power of some hot hatches, the entry-level Boxster feels fast enough to thrill without being intimidating. This, matched with the fingertip-responsive handling, makes it perfect for UK roads. It's a car that makes you want to get up early and seek out a quiet road, just as it is laid back and easy to drive on that wet, wintery commute."
The editorial team at What Car? were especially driven by the sheer value for money that the Boxster represents. The team cited that even the base level Boxster comes with everything you could possibly need to extract all of the cars very best qualities of sportiness and comfort - “All you really need to add is satellite navigation, digital radio and the rasping optional sports exhaust…even with these extras the Boxster is still great value" said What Car?
Porsche Cars GB Managing Director, Chris Craft, collected the award and commented with the following about the Boxster:
“For the Boxster to receive this recognition from What Car? for the third year in a row is a real credit to our engineers at Weissach…It also underlines what our customers tell us; that in true roadster spirit, the Boxster immerses you completely in the driving experience."
The Boxster is a mid-engined, two-seater sports car that is priced from £38,810 and is available in three series: Boxster, Boxster S and Boxster GTS. To find out more information about the Boxster range
