Porsche Centre Silverstone was delighted to send three team members to the Daventry Volunteer Centre for the day, to help with one of their projects that reaches out to older people in the Daventry area. Daventry has been identified as a town with one of the highest rates of loneliness within the older community; the Volunteer Centre aims to remedy this by bringing people together.
New Street Café organises social activities and home-cooked meals, providing an opportunity for the elderly to socialise and make new friends. Each month they host a home-cooked lunch for between 30 and 40 people and, this month, Rita, Milly and Emma went to help serve the lunch. They even stayed to help wash up and polish the cutlery afterwards.
The team had a great time getting to know the Daventry residents and helping the friendly staff at the café. They are hoping to help out again in the not-too-distant future. Please contact the team on 01327 438 035 or firstname.lastname@example.org for information about any of the charities Porsche Centre Silverstone supports.
