Cars roll off Saab production line

A total of 16 cars rolled off the Saab production line yesterday, according to popular Saab blog Saabs United. The website claims sources within Saab have revealed a number of undisclosed car models have rolled off the production line at the Swedish plant, Trollhattan. Some of the cars were ordered by customers while others could be sold as the latest new Saabs. However, the Swedish car maker has not confirmed if this is the case.

Previously, Saab has successfully built a small amount of cars on the production line to ensure the equipment was working. The news comes as Saab negotiates with two Chinese investors to bring several new Saab cars to the market in the next two years.

Saab plans to launch the new Saab 9-5 Sports Combi, an estate version of the new Saab 9-5 saloon already available, into the UK in 2012. It will then focus on the new Saab 9-3, a compact executive car which will replace the current Saab 9-3 range and is expected to be a best-seller in the UK. The Saab 9-3 has not been revealed yet, but a number of potential images have been leaked over the past two weeks. It has been confirmed it will be the first ever Saab car to be built on the Phoenix platform and its styling will take cues from the Saab Phoenix, a concept car introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 2011.

It could be followed by a new small executive car in the shape of the 9-1, but Saab has not confirmed this so far
