We’re celebrating the launch of the new Leon CUPRA 290 and 20 years of the iconic CUPRA name.
The new models, which come in all three body styles (SC, 5dr and ST) include significant improvements, from design to vehicle handling, and 10 more PS output than their predecessors.
Even better drive
An impressive 290PS and maximum torque of 350Nm from just 1700rpm can push the Leon CUPRA 290 to 155mph, and it’s still astonishingly efficient. The Sports Coupé (SC) manual achieves 42.2mpg with CO2 emissions of just 156g/km, and the DSG-auto achieves 43.5mpg and emits 149g/km of CO2. A new exhaust system developed for CUPRA 290 further enhances the performance and gives the car a sportier sound.
The CUPRA’s new dynamic chassis control (DCC) is even more sensitive and responsive than before, adapting the chassis’ characteristics to driving conditions in milliseconds. In addition, the CUPRA Drive Profile lets drivers switch the suspension and other settings to adapt the car to their driving needs at any time.
Range-topping Black edition
The new top-of-the-range trim level, CUPRA 290 Black, is a UK-specific model which is also available in all three body styles. It includes Alcantara upholstered bucket seats, 19-inch light-weight multi-spoke black alloy wheels along with the Black Line colour pack for the radiator grille and door mirrors.
The CUPRA 290 comes with state-of-the-art infotainment including a 6.5-inch touch-sensitive screen, Full Link (which includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay) and the SEAT ConnectApp (which includes Mirrorlink). Users can read emails, texts and social media messages and reply using voice commands using this technology.
