Toyota World Solihull Sponsor Lode Heath School Sports Day
Toyota World Solihull sponsored the Lode Heath School Sports day for 380 competitors in athletics events on Thursday 10th July, held for the first time at the recently re-furbished Norman Green Sports Centre in Solihull. Lode Heath School has Specialisms in Sport and Science and Subject Leader Helen Whalley, with the help of the PT department and twenty-two fifteen year old sports leaders organised this exceptional event for years seven, eight and nine.
Toyota World Solihull Dealer Principal David Crooks said, "our sponsorship of this excellent event covered the cost of perpetual shields, individual shields and winner's medals and certificates. I was personally honoured to be asked to present the prizes at the event and witness first hand the enthusiasm and skills of the students. The sports day is part of a programme of activities we will be undertaking with Lode Heath School in the coming months. We will be helping with activities to enhance their recently achieved Specialism in Science, we will also be sharing the business experience of our team to help students progress from school into the workplace."
The Sports Day featured shot put, discuss, javelin, long jump and triple jump alongside track events of 100, 200, 300, 400, 800 and 1500 metres and relay events. Winners on the day are featured in our photograph with Head Teacher John Burton and Toyota World Dealer Principal David Crooks. Year 7 joint winners forms 7MDO and 7SG, year 8 form 8SMS and year 9 form 9RS.
Lode Heath Head teacher John Burton said, "our first sports day at Norman Green Stadium was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for all concerned. The pupils and staff excelled themselves in organisation, performance and team activity. The pupils' enjoyment was enhanced greatly by the sponsorship provided by Toyota World Solihull. The recent poor weather also held back to provide a bright day for the athletes to compete, with several athletes competing at county and national standard, setting benchmarks for breaking performance records in the future. We look forward to a close partnership with David Crooks and his team over the coming months."
