The Volkswagen Crafter added to its already large trophy case after winning Auto Express' Van of the year award 2017 last week. This crafter has already been named International Van of the Year 2017, named the best new van by leading commercial vehicle publication Van Fleet World. It picked up the Vans A2Z accolades of best large van and van of the year in March, and was presented with Trade Van Drivers Van of the year and best large panel van awards during the CV Show.
Auto Express Editor-in-Chief Steve Fowler, said: “Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has been going from strength to strength in recent years and, following on from the Caddy and Transporter, the Crafter sets new standards for comfort and quality in its class.” The Crafter has done exceptionally well since its release earlier this year.
There are several engine and drivetrain choices available in the new Crafter. The brand new 2.0-litre TDI engine, developed just for Crafter, is available with four power outputs: 102 PS, 122 PS and 140 PS, plus a bi-turbo TDI with 177 PS. The choice of engines depends on which drive system is selected. There is a choice between front, rear and all-wheel drive (4MOTION), as well as automatic or manual, offering complete flexibility.
