Gloria - Guy Salmon Thames Ditton Salutes You!
This year our receptionist Gloria Verrell reaches her 40th year of service with Guy Salmon.
Gloria started working at Guy Salmon Thames Ditton in April 1969 and was employed by Mr Guy Salmon himself. Gloria was a mother of two small children when she started and her duties were anything from delivering cars to the service department, carrying out test drives and manning the rental car desk.
Gloria remembers the years with affection and there was never a dull moment. Back then, the showroom sold Jaguar, Rolls Royce and Jensen’s. The launch parties were legendary and Gloria remembers the XJ40 launch, when Mr Salmon had a Jaguar fighter plane delivered and assembled on the forecourt. There was also a time when the Royal Scottish Guards played and there were queues of people lining the street.
Gloria works part time now and hosts our Jaguar reception desk. Gloria is a huge asset to us at Thames Ditton and there isn’t much about the history and day to day running of the dealership that Gloria doesn’t know. Many of our customers find themselves calling in just for a coffee and to see her.
Congratulations Gloria, we salute you on your 40 years of service. The place wouldn’t be the same without you!
