Guy Salmon Land Rover Bristol helps keep local charity, Milestones Trust, on the road!

The Milestones Trust

Guy Salmon Land Rover Bristol has adopted the van used by Milestones Trust’s Day Opportunities Service, giving it an MOT and servicing to ensure the charity can continue to help people with learning disabilities get out and about in their local community

Milestones Trust provide health and social care services across Bristol, Gloucestershire, Bath and North Somerset, enabling people with learning disabilities, dementia and mental health needs to live a more fulfilling and independent life. The charity develops individual packages of care according to specific needs and wishes through person-centred planning. Their ‘Stepping Forward’ Day Opportunities supports people with learning disabilities who were left with nowhere to go when council-run day care centres closed. They use the van to take the group to college, the gym, work placements, arts events and more, enabling them to access local facilities; however the van was in need of repair.

Guy Salmon Land Rover Bristol is delighted to support Milestones Trust and has carried out a free service and M.O.T, as well as making necessary repair and removing dents.  In addition, vehicle graphics were donated and applied by Bristol-based graphics company 'ThinkImage', including the application of safety chevrons to the back of the vehicle. The van will continue to be maintained on an on-going basis by Guy Salmon Land Rover Bristol to ensure the charity is able to complete its daily transport tasks safely and efficiently, helping local users keep active, learn and enjoy a level of independence.

The relationship between Guy Salmon Land Rover Bristol and Milestones Trust began when one of the Trust’s users, Kevin, visited the dealership to look at the vehicles.  As a Land Rover fan and car enthusiast, Kevin was delighted when Sales Manager, David Bowden, showed him around the dealership and he has been a regular visitor ever since.  It was during this first visit that David noticed the poor state that Milestones Trusts’ van was in and made the offer of servicing and maintaining it for the charity.

As well as making sure that the Trust’s van is roadworthy, Guy Salmon has also arranged for Kevin to enjoy a very special day out at Land Rover Experience West Country for his birthday in November, followed by dinner with his dad back in Bristol.  At Land Rover Experience, Kevin will discover for himself what a real off-road vehicle can do!

Colin Isaacs, Dealer Principal at Guy Salmon Land Rover in Bristol, said “We are very happy to support Milestones Trust and carry out repairs and improvement on their van in order to ensure that the charity can carry on providing high standards of care for the local community.”
