Chippenham Town Youth nets new sponsor

Chippenham Town Youth under 11 have made a new ‘star’ signing as they embark on their 2009/2010 season.

Mercedes-Benz of Bath is sponsoring the team for its campaign in the Mid Wilts Youth & Minor Football League under 11 Green Division, with the retailer’s famous three-pointed star logo appearing on the youngsters’ kit.

As part of the agreement, Mercedes-Benz of Bath has supplied every member of Town’s 20-strong squad with a training kit, waterproof jacket, drill top and sports bag. The kit was presented before Chippenham Town’s senior side kicked-off their latest fixture at Hardenhuish Park on Saturday.

Tim Sett, Mercedes-Benz of Bath’s Dealer Principal, hoped the sponsorship would provide the inspiration for another successful season. Last season at under 10 level, the team captured ‘the treble’ of league, cup and winners of the fair play/sportsmanship trophy – scoring 70 goals and conceding just 15 – and they have already won their first two matches this season.

“It is an excellent association,” explained Tim. “There is a lot of positive awareness about the team following their success last season, whilst Mercedes-Benz is a winning brand that is held in equally high esteem.

“The boys will put our name in front of people not only in Bath but other areas within our territory such as Corsham, Trowbridge and Warminster, so we wish them every success for the season ahead.”

Terry McCosh, Secretary of Chippenham Town Youth and the team’s manager, added: “We’re delighted to receive the support of Mercedes-Benz of Bath, which has meant that the boys have not had to pay for kit themselves.

“Whilst our prime ethos is to ensure that youngsters enjoy playing football, it is important that they portray a good image of themselves and the club. Thanks to Mercedes-Benz of Bath’s generosity, the players will look like a united football team on the pitch wearing the same smart attire as they travel to and from matches and will appear as ambassadors of the club away from it.”
