Derek Johnston takes win at Silverstone

Derek Johnston Dominates last two races of the season at Silverstone

After the disappointment of being black flagged at Snetterton, Derek Johnston had a point prove and was fired up for the last two remaining rounds of the Ferrari Pirelli Open championship at Silverstone 17th-18th September.

The team for this weekend consisted of the following cars

Paul Bailey 458 Challenge
Derek Johnston 448 Challenge
Craig Milner 430 Challenge

Saturday Qualifying

Qualifying consisted of a 30min session; Derek Johnston set the early pace with Paul Bailey putting some consistent times and Craig Milner dialling into his newly acquired 430 challenge having sold his 458.

Qualifying Results

Derek Johnston ended up P1, with Paul Bailey P4 and Craig Milner P6

Saturday Race

Derek Johnston led the pack away on a rolling start and soon started to gap the rest of the field, Gary Eastwood who was in a similar 458 Challenge for the first time tried hard to keep in touch, Derek continued to put in some consistent times to finish the race in P1 some 25sec in the lead, Paul Bailey finished a respectful P4 and Craig Milner P9.

Sunday Qualifying

Again qualifying consisted of a 30 min session, Derek Johnston topped the time sheets, lapping a second quicker than the Saturdays qualifying, with Paul Bailey unfortunately spinning off and hitting the barriers, however the team did a great job to repair the car and have it ready for race two, Paul ended qualifying in P14 and Craig P5.

Sunday Race

As race two started Derek and Gary Eastwood touched mirrors going into the first corner, as the racing is that tight, within two to three laps Derek started to pull away.
Paul Bailey starting from a poor fourteenth position, but soon started to move through the pack to end up in P4, Craig again continued to have some good racing in his 430 challenge.

Once again Derek Johnston dominated race two, lapping everybody upto second position and finished 37sec in the lead.

As the season has now closed we look forward to some winter testing to develop the car even further and look forward to racing in 2012.

Should anyone be interested in Racing next year on track days, please feel free to contact on the dealership number.
