New Mercedes-Benz SL-Class to enjoy a 'Grand' entrance
It's go, go, go for local retailer's launch of iconic sports car
Mercedes-Benz of Bristol is ensuring that its new SL-Class enjoys a ‘Grand’ entrance by unveiling the latest version of the legendary roadster on the day of the F1™ British Grand Prix – Sunday July 8th.
The Cribbs Causeway Retailer’s launch date of the new SL is particularly fitting as the model first came to light through its outstanding success in motorsport, the original SL race car scoring victories and one-two finishes at the Le Mans 24 Hours and the demanding Carrera Panamericana in Mexico.
Over the following 60 years and with every model generation represented, the SL has become the benchmark in its prestigious sector. With the arrival of the new SL, and as customers of Mercedes-Benz of Bristol are soon to discover, the legend of the phenomenal roadster is set to continue.
Those who visit Mercedes-Benz of Bristol will find that while the new SL is a technological tour de force, its cutting-edge design has many traits that pay homage to the original SL race car. Highlights include a lightweight aluminium construction, BlueDIRECT engines, three options of vario-roof (unique in its segment), a choice of suspension and a spacious interior that exudes luxury and sportiness.
Customers can choose from the V8 SL 500 and V6 SL 350. Both are extremely powerful but are also up to 30 per cent more economical than their predecessors. For example, the V6 SL 350 accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 5.9 seconds but still returns 41.5 mpg on the combined fuel economy cycle. Phenomenal AMG versions with hand-built V8 and V12 engines will be available later in the year.
Rupert Knibbs, Sales Manager at Mercedes-Benz of Bristol, is looking forward to introducing local motorists to the many attributes of the new SL.
“This summer is the best-ever for sporting action and we’re delighted to unveil our own sports star on the same day as one of the major sporting events in the UK, especially as the SL has a long-established connection with motor sport and the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS team is also set to have a strong presence in the F1™ British Grand Prix,” said Rupert.
“The advanced specification of the latest model takes the SL to a whole new level and reaffirms the roadster’s standing as one of the all-time automotive greats. It really must be seen to be believed and as soon as we have lifted the covers off the SL we will be inviting interested customers to experience its superb driving dynamics for themselves.”
