The first Aston Martin to be built on the company’s all-new ‘Second Century’ plan, the DB11 is the latest car to wear the illustrious ‘DB’ emblem; continuing Aston Martin’s tradition of creating luxurious, exciting and dynamic GT cars.
Showcasing a new design language of both extreme beauty & pioneering aerodynamics and a potent new twin-turbocharged V12 engine, the DB11 combines the very latest in technology with the unmistakable DNA of the DB family of which it is part.
The DB11 is the most significant new Aston Martin since the DB9 was introduced in 2009. Drawing inspiration from predecessors such as the DB2/4, the DB5 and the DB10 that was specifically designed for James Bond, the DB11 re-imagines what it means to be a beautiful GT car. As such, new design signatures like the elegant new LED lights and larger front grille can be found across the car.
In silhouette, the DB11 demonstrates smooth lines that flow entirely undisturbed from front to rear, ultimately reaching their conclusion where the new roof stakes blend seamlessly into the rear lights. The clean profile of the DB11 is more than just aesthetic choice; it was carved and moulded by the way in which air flows across the car in order to assist with the aerodynamic performance of the car.
Form and function colliding, DB11 is a masterpiece of aerodynamic design. Aiding stability and airflow, the front end of the car features a gill-like Curlicue that helps to release high pressure air from within the wheel arch, subsequently reducing front-end lift. Complementing the front end aerodynamics and reducing rear-end lift, Aston Martin have implemented the innovative new Aeroblade virtual spoiler. The patented new system works by taking in air by the rear window and channelling it down a narrow tube inside the car. This air is accelerated within the tube before being vented out at the rear of the car to help create downforce.
Remarked as being the most powerful, most efficient and most dynamically gifted DB model in Aston Martin’s history, DB11 is the epitome of what it is to be part of the DB family. Beneath the front-hinging clamshell bonnet sits the beating heart of DB11; a 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12. Designed in-house at Aston Martin, this potent twin-turbocharged V12 produces 600bhp and 700nm of torque.
When combined with the lightweight bonded aluminium structure, this 5.2-litre V12 takes DB11 from 0-62mph in just 3.9 seconds and then on to a top speed of 200mph. In order to allow the driver to take full advantage of the extreme power and supreme chassis, three driver-selectable dynamic modes are available – GT, Sport and Sport Plus – each tweaking the engine, 8-speed automatic ZF transmission, power steering and torque vectoring system in a progressively more intense way.
The overall effect of all of these components is DB11’s ability to offer the driver an experience that is both sophisticated and exemplary in ride comfort whilst also still allowing to un-impeded sports car ability and excitement. Like all cars before it that wear the ‘DB’ badge, DB11 is a car that sets a formidable new standard for Grand Tourers.
Designed with Grand Touring in mind, the cabin of DB11 is a place of both absolute luxury and state-of-the-art technology. With wider door apertures and significantly increased interior space for both driver and passengers, occupants of DB11 are elegantly welcomed into an interior of the very finest quality and hand craftsmanship.
When at the wheel, the driver of DB11 is clearly presented with all relevant information on a full-colour 12” TFT LCD display that acts as the instrument cluster. Supporting the driver’s TFT display, a second 8” TFT screen that displays the infotainment system in complete clarity can be found centrally. This central screen is controlled using an intuitive rotary control that can be equipped with an optional touchpad that offers character recognition, multi-touch and gesture support.
Through the use of the new control methods, the DB11 can take complete advantage of the new satellite navigation system and audio system in a way that has seldom been available before. The incredible infotainment system also comes with the option of an all-new auto-park assist feature and 360-degree birds-eye view camera.
The sensational Aston Martin DB11 is now available with the option of a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. Complementing the astounding 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine that is already offered, this potent new heart offers the driver access to 503bhp and 675nm of torque. Fed directly to the rear wheels, these powerful figures convert to a 0-62mph sprint of just 4.0seconds and a top speed of 187mph.
Mounted as low as possible to ensure an optimised centre-of-gravity, the fantastic compact V8 has allowed Aston Martin to create a DB11 that saves 115kg of weight and offers an even greater sense of agility.
Offered with subtle aesthetic differences to the V12 DB11 – such as a unique alloy wheel finish and dark headlight bezels - this new V8 Grand Tourer delivers the same unrivalled feelings of luxury and performance that its V12 sibling is famous for.
The DB11 Volante completes the family; offering an equally stunning, open-topped GT experience. The most elegant of convertible Aston Martins begins a new chapter with the introduction of the eagerly-awaited DB11 Volante. Joining the DB11 Coupe, which was launched to wide acclaim last year, the new DB11 Volante sets new standards of performance, innovation, engineering and style to create the definitive open-top Sports GT.
Powered by a new 4.0-litre twin-turbo 510PS V8 engine, the DB11 Volante is built around the all-new bonded aluminium structure first seen in the DB11 Coupe. Lighter and more rigid than the model it replaces, the DB11 Volante has been engineered to deliver a much broader envelope of abilities. Greater levels of performance and handling accentuate the more sporting side of its character, while increased refinement, comfort and interior space ensure it remains a consummate grand tourer.
