Did you know Jaguar Land Rover has its very own brass band? Well for the last 16 years JLR has sponsored one of the most renowned brass bands in the country and on the 8th November Guy Salmon Jaguar Coventry were pleased to support the band with a photo shoot in our showroom with both the F-Type and the I-Pace.
The band was formed in 1944 as the Air Training Corps Band and over the last 70 years, although half a number of names changes has always been based in Coventry. In September 2002 the band became the Jaguar (Coventry) Band and in 2011, to further align with its sponsor the band became the Jaguar Land Rover Band.
The band works closely with the public relations and community relations team at JLR promoting JLR through its music throughout the midlands and beyond. Performing in all the major concert venues in UK, the bands focus’s on raising funds for the community through a number of charities such as, NSPCC, Macmillan, Help for Heros, Myton Hospice, NCH, Rotary, Salvation Army, Ben (motor Industry Benevolent charity) to name a few.
The band is classed as a championship brass band made up of 30 of the best instrumentalists from across the Midlands. The quality of the band has also been recognised with many contest successes including represented the midlands at the National Brass Band Finals at the Royal Albert Hall and at arguably the most prestigious contest, the British Open, held at the Birmingham Symphony hall.
The band entertains with music from the classics, big-band, shows and traditional repertoire and is in great demand for concerts across the UK as well conducting tours in Europe and the USA. The band is often featured on TV and radio and has been featured on BBC's Songs of Praise no less that 10 times.
The band has made a number of recordings, the latest being nominated for CD of the year through musical press. “It is great that the bands efforts are acknowledge through such nominations and as a result the band will be featured in the musical press in January. We therefore needed a new press photo. We always like to take the opportunity to promote JLR so holding a photo shoot with the F-Type and I-Pace was ideal. We are grateful for the support of Guy Salmon and hope we can support them further in the future” states Band Manager Simon Archer.
