Discovery is highly desirable with unrivalled capability and technology like no other. It has been designed from the outset to enable Land Rover customers to live the lifestyle they aspire to. The result is the best family SUV in the world.
Land Rover has updated its Discovery premium seven seat SUV with a new twin-turbocharged 306PS diesel engine, the latest driver assistance safety technologies and enhanced customer convenience.
The new 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine, badged SDV6, produces 306PS and an impressive 700Nm of torque. The engine is capable of powering the Discovery from 0-100km/h in 7.5 seconds (0-60mph in 7.0 seconds) and delivers relaxed cruising refinement and a certified towing capacity of 3,500kg.
As part of Land Rover’s continued engine technology developments, the SDV6 with
twin-turbochargers features a revised intake system with twin intercoolers and an eight-nozzle injector design for optimised performance and efficiency.
All Discovery powertrains will also come equipped with particulate filters to make them even cleaner. The efficient, close-coupled filters are neatly integrated into the after treatment system and trap soot as the exhaust gas passes through them. Under normal driving conditions, the trapped soot will be oxidised into CO2 and the filter regenerated whenever the driver lifts off the accelerator.
"The latest updates strengthen Discovery’s status as the most versatile and capable family SUV. Our new diesel engine provides strong performance and efficiency while the latest safety technology protects occupants and other road users..."
Nick Collins - Vehicle Line Director, Jaguar Land Rover
Discovery now comes with Clear Exit Detection, which alerts the driver and passengers if vehicles, cyclists or other hazards are approaching from behind when exiting the vehicle. If an obstacle is detected then a warning light will flash on the door alerting occupants.
Adaptive Cruise Control now includes Stop & Go to support the driver at all times. It maintains the driver’s selected speed when safe, but also automatically adjusts it to maintain a predetermined distance from the vehicle in front. The technology can even smoothly stop the vehicle in heavy traffic and, if the traffic moves again within three seconds of stopping, automatically resume and follow the car in front.
These technologies join a host of Driving Assistance features to help customers make the most of their Land Rover, delivering the safest possible drive wherever they choose to go.
Land Rover has also simplified the process for customers specifying their vehicle with safety features now split into three packages; Park Pack, Drive Pack and Driver Assist Pack.
