The MINI JoInspired by the carmaker’s legendary triumphs in the Monte Carlo Rally exactly 50 years ago, the MINI John Cooper Works GP Concept has been presented at the IAA Cars 2017 Show by BMW Group. The design shows ultimate flair and driving fun both on the road as well as the race track. The concept car picks up the baton from the 2012 MINI John Cooper Works GP and 2006 MINI Cooper S with John Cooper Works GP Kit. Produced in strictly limited numbers (2,000 examples each), these two models explored the outer limits of their performance capability at the time.
The MINI JCW GP Concept is wider than the current MINI but its lowered body, side skirts and roof spoiler make it truly stand out for all the right reasons. The sporty MINI is also designed with carbon fibre materials balancing the weight evenly throughout to enhance dynamism and power. The interior has bucket seats inside a sporty roll cage adding even more character and racing standards to the car. Large air intakes and precisely molded air deflectors dominate the front end, which cuts a low-to-the-road figure whilst the rear holds part of its British origin with a glimpse of the Union Jack.
The character of the MINI John Cooper Works GP Concept is defined by a motor sport heritage which stretches back over more than five decades, designed to be fun on the road but also a competitive rally car.
