Aston Martin Unveil New Details of Project Neptune

After an initial announcement late last year that Aston Martin and Triton Submarines LLC would be teaming up to build a submarine, both brands have now revealed detailed specifications and designs of their upcoming submersible vehicle.

Codenamed ‘Project Neptune’ this venture is Aston Martin’s latest endeavour into the world of luxury goods that aren’t road going vehicles. Demonstrating Aston Martin’s incredible talent for extreme performance, exquisite luxury and beautiful aesthetics, it promises to be a fantastic project that is very different to the cars that we see out on the road.

Aston Martin’s partners in this endeavour – Triton Submarines LLC – are renowned within the industry for creating state-of-the-art submersibles that are the very best when it comes to safety and performance. These attributes make the company the perfect match for Aston Martin when it comes to a project of this nature.

Ahead of Project Neptune’s official unveiling to the public later this year, the two brands have announced that the submersible will be able to carry a pilot and two passengers to depths of 500 metres and will accomplish a sprint speed in excess of 5 knots; approximately four times faster than Triton’s current flagship, 3300/3.

Overseen by Aston Martin Consulting, the strictly-limited vehicle is based upon Triton’s Low Profile (LP) three-person platform; adopting styling inspired by Aston Martin creations like the sensational Aston Martin Valkyrie. Talking of their work, Aston Martin Vice President and Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichmann said:

“Project Neptune is defined by its sleek, elegant exterior … we have used forms and proportions that express the same devotion to design, engineering and beauty that shape our cars, such as the Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar project.”

The interior sits within a glass bubble that has been designed to maximise the experience of all of those on board by allowing near 360 degree visibility. The contents of the ‘bubble’ (for want of a better term) can be specified in three different luxurious designs or can be tailored to the owner’s exact specification through Aston Martin’s bespoke service, Q by Aston Martin.

Project Neptune allows Aston Martin to further expand the brand into new aspects of the luxury lifestyle that their customers know and love. The brand already boasting a stunning luxury speedboat for those who wish to explore above the waves, Project Neptune will allow the brand’s customers to go further and explore the world that lies below the surface.
