After a successful pilot in 2017, we’re very proud to announce that the Sytner Elite Technician Challenge will be returning in 2018.
Sponsored by Shell Helix Motor Oils and Pirelli, the industry leading Sytner initiative sees Technicians from across our manufacturers compete to be named ‘Elite Technician’ for their brand and has been designed to identify and reward outstanding talent within the Group.
For the 2018 competition, we’re excited to be welcoming Technicians from 10 of the prestigious manufacturers that we represent.
The competition begins early this year and will see applicants initially invited to complete an IMI accredited online theoretical test – the three highest scoring from each brand will then be invited to compete in the final challenge.
Covering every aspect of what it is to be a Technician, the tough final challenge will see competitors complete a further theoretical test before taking part in a practical test where they must find and identify diagnostic failures on a vehicle and then record a personal video presentation of their findings.
At the end of the highly competitive day, one Technician from each brand will be named as an ‘Elite Technician’ and will win a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Detroit Grand Prix. Hosted by Penske in June 2018, our lucky winners will get to experience IndyCar alongside one of the most successful teams in the sport.
At Sytner Group we’re very proud to say that we operate a strong ‘one team ethos’ and always seek to nurture and reward talent within the Group. Achieving a very low turnover of colleagues, we were delighted to be named the Sunday Times Best Big Company to Work for 2017 and to have achieved a top 5 position in the competition for 8 consecutive years. If you are interested in joining the Sytner Group and possibly taking part in future competitions like Elite Technician, you can learn more about careers here.
With applications opening to our Technicians today, the final challenge is set to take place in March 2018. We will be covering the entire final challenge and the run up to the competition on our social media channels, so be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin so that you don’t miss out on any updates!
