Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations department have been at it again; this time gifting the fantastic F-Pace a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 and a subsequent top speed of over 170mph. Ladies and gentlemen, the F-Pace SVR has arrived.
Unveiled at the New York Motor Show, the new F-Pace SVR uses everything from a new V8 heart to an enhanced chassis to become the most powerful and performance focused F-Pace to date. The result is an SUV that accelerates from 0-60mph in around four seconds but also features the handling and agility to match.
As mentioned previously, F-Pace SVR features a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol engine that produces 550PS (542bhp) and 680Nm – a 44% increase over the standard F-Pace. Working seamlessly with a host of weight-saving elements, this audacious supercharged V8 grants F-Pace SVR the ability to reach a 60mph from a standstill in just 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 176mph.
In a previous feature, we noted that the F-Type SVR made “a violent symphony that has seldom been heard in such magnitude since dinosaurs ruled the earth”, thanks to Jaguar’s Variable Valve Active Exhaust System, the F-Pace SVR is no different; producing the raw V8 soundtrack that we’ve come to expect from an SVR special model. More than just an aid to create an audacious noise, the active exhaust also assists in the F-Pace SVR’s increased performance.
Increased aerodynamic requirements have determined the revised styling and prompted the addition of larger air intakes at the front, aggressive bonnet vents, new vents behind the front wheels and stunning new air outlets behind the rear wheels. The rear also features a unique new spoiler to increase downforce and an incorporated diffuser to smooth airflow. In addition to enhancing F-Pace SVR’s handling, all of these features help to create a new aesthetic for F-Pace; building an aggressive silhouette and an even greater sense of presence.
Working alongside these new aerodynamic elements, Jaguar’s rear Electronic Active Differential (EAD), torque on-demand All-Wheel Drive system, Adaptive Dynamics suspension and Electronic Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) ensure that F-Pace SVR offers sharper throttle response and dynamic handling in any situation.
Stopping power comes from uprated 395mm brake discs at the front and 396mm brake discs at the rear. Sitting inside lightweight 21- or optional 22-inch alloy wheels, the new brakes benefit from greater airflow, courtesy of the various additional bodywork vents.
With a mission to ensure that Jaguar’s F-Pace SVR was focused on both performance and luxury, SVO have ensured the interior remains as you would expect from a premium SUV.
As such, lighter seats and an SVR-specific steering wheel have been fitted alongside a Touch Pro 10in touchscreen, 12.3-inch HD instrument cluster and 4G WiFi for up to eight devices.
We’re very excited to see more about Jaguar’s new F-Pace SVR over the coming months. Looking back on the launch of JLR’s previous SUV SVR – Range Rover SVR – we hope that we can expect no end of great content … trip to the Nurburgring anyone?
