ŠKODA's Unveil All-Electric CITIGO-e IV at Frankfurt Motor Show

The first production all-electric car from ŠKODA is here! It comes in the form of the CITIGO-e IV; an electric variant of their fantastic little CITIGO city car. Designed for life in the city, this new electric car from ŠKODA promises to be a fantastic way of getting around your local town or city.

Producing a total of 81bhp and 155lb ft of torque – perfect for a nippy little city car like this – the ŠKODA CITIGO-e gets its power from a 36.8kWh lithium-ion battery that feeds power to the front wheels through a single electric motor. ŠKODA say that it’ll cover a 0-62mph sprint in around 12.5 seconds and, more importantly, can cover a range of 164 miles on a single charge.

In terms of charging, ŠKODA say that it’s possible to get from 0-80 per cent in one hour when using a 40kW DC fast charger through a CCS (combined charging system) charging cable.

Outside of fast charging, using a 7.2kWh AC wall box will give you a charging speed of 0-80 per cent in 4 hours and 15 minutes and charging through a 2.3kWh household plug socket will give you full charge in just under 13 hours; perfect for overnight charging.

When it comes to design, the ŠKODA CITIGO-e remains very similar to its conventionally powered siblings. That said, it does set itself apart through a redesigned body-coloured radiator grille, fog lights as standard and a revised front bumper. Regardless of trim level – SE or SE L – all ŠKODA CITIGO-e examples will feature five doors.

Internally, ŠKODA have developed an entirely new black instrument panel that features various ambient lights and silver detailing (depending on trim level). As standard, every ŠKODA CITIGO-e will come with electric front windows, climate control, the Swing radio and the Move&Fun smartphone docking station; the latter allows you to use your phone as a media player, nav system or an additional display for vehicle data.

We don’t yet have an exact UK arrival date for ŠKODA’s new CITIGO-e electric car but Autocar predict they’ll begin appearing on our shores early next year.
