ŠKODA Vision E, meet our first electrically driven concept car!

ŠKODA are getting ready for this years Shanghai Motor Show where the brand will showcase its brand new first electric car; Vision E. The Show takes place between 19th-28th of April where ŠKODA will unveil the five-door SUV coupé which can travel up to 500 kilometres (310 miles) purely on electric power and meets level three requirements for autonomous driving.

The Vision E is extremely sleek and stylish, at 4,645mm long (only 52mm shorter than a Kodiaq), 1,917mm wide and 1,550mm tall, the Vision E has great road presence. Its 2,850mm wheelbase, with short overhangs at the front and rear, allows for an extremely spacious interior. Vision E has 225KW of all-electric power and provides instant acceleration instantly to a top speed of 180 km/h (112 mph). The powerful lithium-ion batteries and optimal recuperation allow a range of up to 310 miles. The car uses two electric motors which drive all four wheels.

The Vision E achieves the prerequisites for level three autonomous driving. It can park and leave parking spaces alone, search for free parking spaces independently, carry out overtaking maneuvers, go into autopilot on motorways, stay in lanes and swerve and operate independently in traffic jams. This is done through numerous cameras located around the car which constantly monitor surrounding traffic.

The electrification of ŠKODA’s model range will begin as early as 2019 with the launch of a plug-in hybrid Superb. ŠKODA’s first purely electric production model is set to be released shortly afterwards in 2020.
