Charging your car

Volkswagens Plug-in Hybrid cars have 2 methods to charge the vehicle. It can be charged using an external power source or through the vehicle's own charging system.

Volkswagen Plug-in Hybrid and Electric cars can be charged using a standard 3 pin plug or at one of the dedicated charging points mentioned below .

Charging is available at home, with a home charging point, they can be charged at public charging stations which can be found in supermarkets, retail parks and across various other destinations across the UK as well as workplace charging points.


The e-Golf is equipped with top of the range technology as standard including Discover Nav Pro, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, dual zone automatic climate control, App Connect and full LED headlights.

The Passat GTE range is also equipped advanced technological specifications including adaptive cruise control (ACC), Discover Navigation System (DNS) and multifunctional colour display. the Advanced models are equipped with additional extras as standard.

Our e-up! is equipped with Car-net e-remote to remotely check and change functions and new 'maps+more' smartphone integration.Optional extras on all models are also available.


You are exempt from Vehicle excise duty (VED) duty so you can save money. Driving into London you wont face a congestion charge, and now many cities and towns are offer free parking for electric cars.

Buying an electric car you may also quality for the government funding scheme where from November 2018 you can save up to £3,500 of your car.

How long does it take to charge the Golf GTE? 
Charging time varies between 2 hours 15 minutes and 3 hours 45 minutes. 
- Household power point: 2 hours 15 minutes. 
- Wallbox: 3 hours 45 minutes.

Are Electric cars not advisable for commuters, because of their restricted range? 
Electric vehicles have a range of 160 kilometres and more. Studies show that 80 percent of all drivers, commuters and frequent drivers don’t drive more than 50 kilometres per day.

How long does it take to charge the e-up!? 
Depending on where you fill up, charging time takes between less than 30 minutes and up to 12 hours. 
- Household power point: 10 to 12 hours 
- Wallbox: 6 to 8 hours 
- CCS charging station: up to 30 minutes
