The Volkswagen Golf has been presented with another accolade, as it took home Auto Trader’s Best Car for New Drivers in 2019 award.
The motoring publication, Auto Trader, interviewed 63,000 car owners across a number of platforms, including social media.
Owners were asked about their demographic and driving habits, rating their cars using 16 different criteria including reliability, performance, appearance and running costs.
They were also asked about their overall satisfaction with the car and how likely they would be to recommend it to others. The Golf was a firm favourite among respondents, taking home the Best Car for New Drivers in the 2019 award.
“The Golf’s story is 45 years in the making, so it’s little wonder that it has built such a reputation among drivers,” said Dale Piper, Product Manager for the Golf at Volkswagen UK.
“That reputation filters down to new drivers too, with its long list of talents only adding to its familiarity and popularity with UK drivers,” he added.
Further good news came as the up! and Tiguan picked up two awards in the J.D. Power UK Vehicle Dependability Study. The up! was voted most dependable city car and the Tiguan picked up most dependable compact SUV.
Over 11,000 J.D. Power voters took part in the study and judged how satisfied they were with their new cars after 12-36 months of ownership.
