The future is electric

On their way into an all-electric future: Meet The I.D, the I.D CROZZ and the I.D BUZZ.

With Volkswagen's hybrid GTEs, fully-electric e-Golf and e-up! already on sale and the upcoming I.D open for pre-sale from 2019 and on sale from 2020, we're excited for the electric future.

The market for electric cars is growing rapidly and our ambition is for 20 per cent of our mix to be electric by 2025. Volkswagen wants to be at the forefront of this electric revolution.

The I.D family is generating a lot of excitement. This is a class-leading family of electric cars: the I.D, the I.D Buzz and the I.D Crozz, built from the ground up.

Electric vehicles in numbers

  • 132,000 plug-in vehicles registered in the UK
  • 14,250 charging points across the UK
  • 45 minutes to charge an e-Golf to 80%
  • Volkswagen plan to electrify entire model range and portfolio by 2030
  • 100 miles the approximate range of e-up!

The benefits

  • electricity is cheaper than petrol or diesel
  • servicing costs are lower, because the car has fewer moving parts
  • the availability of free parking and charging in various locations across the UK

With battery improvements and future Volkswagen models coming with 300+ miles range, ‘range anxiety’ will soon be a thing of the past. Like a mobile phone you will be charging it everywhere you go. Over 60% of the charging will be done at home overnight, 30% at work and 10% using public charging infrastructure.
