The ID. is the first arrival from the ID. family and the world’s first carbon neutral vehicle. It will be a compact all-rounder suiting all the everyday requirements of an electric car driver.

The ID. will initially be powered by a single rear-mounted electric motor, with this powering the back wheels and having a range of three battery capacities. What is known as the Open Space Concept has been implemented for the first time in the car’s interior.

Speaking about the future ID. range, Stackmann said: “The ID. Crozz in Tiguan format - our first fully electric SUV - will follow one year later. There will also be a lean, coupe-like version of this model in 2021. And in 2022 Volkswagen will launch the ID. Buzz - the electric successor to our world-famous campervan.”

Pre-booking for this exciting all-electric model will open on Wednesday 8th May 2019, with the first models coming off the production line in 2020.

The ID. will officially be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in autumn. Stay tuned.
