Defender PHEV

How it works

Plug-in Electric Hybrid (PHEV): A petrol engine and electric motor combined. Switch from pure electric commuting with zero tailpipe emissions, to a mix of petrol and electric power for lower emissions on longer journeys. Charging the electric side of your PHEV is easy from home or at your destination.

Mild Hybrid (MHEV): No charging required. Supported by a small electric motor, Land Rover MHEVs enhance the efficiency and refinement of their petrol and diesel engines by reusing energy collected through deceleration and regenerative braking.

Charging your Electric Defender

With a Land Rover plug-in hybrid (PHEV), most of your charging is done from the comfort of home. It’s usually the cheapest, most convenient way to charge – as easy as plugging in your phone – and you’ll never need to visit the fuel pumps for local trips around town. The fastest way to charge your PHEV at home is with a professionally installed home charger. Flats and rental properties may be eligible for the government's EV chargepoint grant.

Charging away from home

Land Rover Charging - 500,000+

As the UK’s public charging infrastructure continues to grow, there are now more than 500,000 charging points to conveniently charge your PHEV away from home. Charging points at many public car parks, shopping centres and motorway services make it easy to top up while you’re parked up. And if you’re spending a few hours in the office, workplace charging can have you fully charged by lunchtime. The majority of destination charging points around towns and cities require the use of your own charging cable. This is included with your Land Rover PHEV as standard. And just like at home, it can be used in all weathers.
