Next generation driving

When the driver enters the ID. Buzz Cargo, it automatically recognises the authorised individual who has the digital key on their smartphone. The drivers cabin features a familiar driver's seat and a double bench seat, which also features in the ID. Buzz. The middle seat folds down to reveal a workplace with an integrated laptop, and in fully autonomous ID. Pilot mode the instrument panel folds away and then driver's seat rotates to allow the driver to work on the move.

The augmented reality (AR) head-up display projects the instrument panel in 3D over the road ahead, positioning key information right where the driver needs it, in their line of sight. The steering dispenses with the traditional spoked wheel in favour of a multi-functional touchpad. Rear-view mirrors are also a thing of the past, replaced by cameras and screens. Features such as infotainment and climate control are operated through a portable, integrated tablet.

Family have spacious interior, and the ID. Buzz Cargo carries the same feature. It has an exceptionally large interior. Thanks to the Modular Electric Drive Kit (MEB), the battery is integrated into the vehicle floor. A rear axle steering system combined with the large turn-in angle of the front wheels, gives the concept vehicle an extremely small turning circle of less than 10 meters. This is a great concept vehicle for manoeuvring around in the city.

Symmetrical rear wing doors make it ideal for pulling right up to loading ramps. There is also an optional workbench that folds out from the rear doors and high-performance work tools can be supplied with power from 230V electrical sockets (16A) via the battery.

Charging your electric van

It's easy to charge while you’re out, but it’s also simple to have a charger of your own installed. All you need is a household socket^ or a professionally installed wall box and you can charge while you’re at home. The electric technology Volkswagen have built is safe and reliable. They are so confident in the performance of their lithium-ion batteries, that they all come with an 8-year or 100,000-mile warranty – whichever comes first.

You can charge your electric van at home, you don't necessarily have to have any specialist equipment to be able to charge at home. You can charge your electric vehicle using a standard 3-pin plug^. A wall box provides you with up to 55% higher charging performance, making it much quicker than charging via a domestic socket. Conventional alternating current (AC) chargers will recharge an electric vehicle overnight. However a direct current (DC) charger works much faster. If charging at home, a wallbox provides you with up to 55% approximately higher charging performance and consequently shorter charging time than a normal domestic mains socket.
