Two icons of British design, united once more. The new MINI Paul Smith Edition celebrates the next chapter in the long-standing partnership between MINI and Sir Paul Smith, a collaboration that perfectly blends MINI’s distinctive character with Paul Smith’s unmistakable design language of “classic with a twist.”
Rooted in a shared spirit of craftsmanship, creativity and innovation, this latest edition follows in the footsteps of the Paul Smith Classic Mini (1998), the MINI STRIP (2021) and the MINI Recharged (2022). Each project has showcased a new way of seeing MINI through the eyes of one of Britain’s most celebrated designers and the latest edition continues that story in a bold new direction.
Launching first with the MINI Cooper Electric, and soon after with the Cooper 3-Door, 5-Door and Convertible, the MINI Paul Smith Edition makes its world premiere at the Japan Mobility Show on 29 October 2025.
Design with a Twist
The exterior captures MINI’s familiar design language, reinterpreted through Paul Smith’s creative lens. Three striking paint finishes – Statement Grey, Inspired White and Midnight Black, set the tone, while roof options in Nottingham Green (a nod to Sir Paul’s birthplace) or Jet Black add an unmistakably British twist. For those who choose the Nottingham Green roof, a Paul Smith Signature Stripe adds a playful contrast, while Jet Black models feature elegant gloss and matt black striping.
Signature Paul Smith touches appear throughout: a handwritten “hello” puddle light projected from the mirrors, his signature on the rear and a refreshed Black/Blue MINI logo designed exclusively for this edition. Completing the look are 18-inch Night Spoke alloy wheels in Dark Steel, featuring Nottingham Green centre caps with Paul Smith lettering.
Step Inside
Step inside, and the collaboration truly comes to life. The cabin blends modern MINI design with subtle, thoughtful Paul Smith detailing. The door sills greet you with his handwritten motto — “Every day is a new beginning” — while a hand-drawn rabbit graphic on the floor mat adds a touch of personality and humour.
The familiar knitted dashboard and door panels now feature tone-on-tone striped patterns inspired by Paul Smith’s iconic textile work. The Nightshade Blue Vescin sports seats are accented with Paul Smith stripes and blue stitching, while the steering wheel carries both the Black/Blue MINI logo and the designer’s wordmark. Throughout the cabin, details in Dark Steel — from the door handles to the speaker grilles — tie together the car’s hero colour palette in understated sophistication.
