In 2026, the Golf GTI will mark its 50th anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, Volkswagen is introducing the exclusive GTI Edition 50.

Volkswagen has unveiled the most powerful production GTI in its history with this exclusive edition. At its heart is a two-litre turbocharged engine, derived from the acclaimed Golf GTI Clubsport. The GTI Edition 50 now delivers an impressive 239 kW (325 PS), setting a new benchmark for GTI performance.
Inside, the driver is greeted by a newly designed multi-function leather sports steering wheel, featuring bespoke trim with the GTI 50 logo. Integrated shift paddles for the seven-speed direct-shift gearbox (DSG) enhance the driving experience, delivering a true motorsport feel with every gear change.

For those seeking an even more dynamic experience, Volkswagen offers the optional GTI Performance Package, available exclusively for the Edition 50.
This package includes a Performance chassis, Potenza Race semi-slick tyres from Bridgestone mounted on lightweight 19-inch Warmenau forged wheels, and a high-grade R-Performance exhaust system.
The newly developed Bridgestone tyres not only provide superior grip and reduced rolling resistance but are also over one kilogram lighter per tyre compared to the standard option—enhancing both agility and efficiency.

The GTI 50 logo is proudly displayed on the roof spoiler and the inner surfaces of the exterior mirrors, adding a touch of exclusivity from every angle. These design elements combine to create a GTI that’s instantly recognizable, unmistakably premium, and worthy of its 50-year legacy.

Volkswagen is offering the Edition 50 in five carefully selected exterior colours, each enhancing the car’s bold character. These include Pure White, Moonstone Grey and Grenadilla Black Metallic. As well as Dark Moss Green Metallic and Tornado Red (both exclusive to the anniversary model).
