The BMW M3 has been an icon of high-performance driving for over 40 years, combining powerful engines, precision handling and distinctive M styling. First unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1985, the original BMW M3 featured a 2.3-litre four-cylinder engine producing 200 hp. Its motorsport success, including victories in the DTM, World Touring Car Championship and Nürburgring 24 Hours, established the foundations for a legendary performance car.

Across six generations, the BMW M3 has continued to evolve. The second generation introduced a six-cylinder engine, followed by the third-generation M3 CSL, which delivered 360 hp through a lightweight design. In 2007, the fourth-generation model introduced a naturally aspirated V8, before the fifth generation adopted BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology for increased power, torque and efficiency. Each generation has built on the M3's reputation for exhilarating performance and innovative engineering.

The sixth-generation BMW M3, introduced in 2020, continues this legacy with a powerful straight-six engine and the addition of BMW M xDrive all-wheel drive. The highly anticipated BMW M3 Touring joined the range in 2022, combining everyday practicality with high-performance capability, while the limited-run BMW M3 CS delivers acceleration from 0–62 mph in just 3.4 seconds. From the original model to the latest generation, the BMW M3 remains a benchmark for performance, motorsport heritage and driving pleasure.
