Elayne Flitney - Service Manager

  1. How long have you worked for Sytner BMW/MINI? 1 year, but that’s because we have recently been acquired by the Sytner Group, which has been a really positive acquisition.

  2. How long have you been in your current role? 6 years and then 27 years in the Motor Industry!

  3. What is your favourite part about your current role? I love the interaction with all of my colleagues, helping them develop, seeing them grow in their roles and their knowledge increase.

  4. What motivates you in the morning? I like to be able to see the results of my work and being able to help my team reach their goals.

  5. Three words to describe yourself? Approachable, driven and reliable

  6. What is your greatest achievement? Becoming Service Manager by the age of 40.

  7. What advice would you give to someone aspiring to be in your role? With the right application and drive, you can achieve anything you set your mind to!

  8. How have you seen the Automotive industry landscape change and evolve to engage more women? I would say 15+ years ago it was very male dominated across most departments, but as the years have gone by women are more present in all roles from Technicians through to Senior Management.

  9. Top tip for how you organise your days? Set out my daily goals into categories – 1, most important -  2, bonus if I get these items done today – 3, ahead of my game for tomorrow. I think it helps to be realistic and set manageable goals for the day as extra things always pop up that need dealing with. This way I can keep on-top of most important tasks while providing full support daily my team.

  10. Top tip for working in the automotive industry? Plenty of Tea before 10am, keeping a positive outlook and be able to evolve as the industry changes.
