BMW is celebrating a successful start to 2024 after securing three category wins at this year’s What Car? Car of the Year Awards. The BMW M3 Touring, the BMW 4 Series and the BMW X7 were each recognised as best in their respective categories.
What Car? Performance Car of the Year - BMW M3 Touring
BMW is marking a triumphant beginning to 2024 following its impressive performance at the What Car? Car of the Year Awards. The BMW M3 Touring, BMW 4 Series, and BMW X7 all clinched victories in their respective categories.
The debut of the groundbreaking BMW M3 Touring took place at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed, earning widespread acclaim upon its launch last year. The model continues to shine, securing the title of 'Performance Car of the Year' for 2024 from What Car?. Steve Huntingford, Editor of What Car?, commended the M3 Touring, stating, "Adopting a more practical estate form, the M3 Touring excels in everyday use compared to the saloon. It allows you to seamlessly navigate tasks like a trip to IKEA, effortlessly opening the tailgate to accommodate flat-packed furniture with its versatile 40/20/40 split rear seats. Yet, it doesn't compromise on performance, delivering an exceptional driving experience, from setting lap records at Brands Hatch to cruising comfortably on the remainder of your journey."
What Car? Coupe & Convertible of the Year - BMW 4 Series
The BMW 4 Series also received recognition as the 'Coupé/Convertible of the Year' from What Car?. Unveiled in 2020, the second-generation 4 Series, available in Coupé, Gran Coupé, and Convertible variants, stood out for its exceptional driving dynamics. Huntingford emphasized, "Whether you opt for the Coupé or the Convertible, the BMW 4 Series impresses with razor-sharp steering, excellent cornering stability, and an engine that balances a spirited sound with quiet cruising. Surprisingly practical, the 4 Series comfortably accommodates four adults without sacrificing space."
Having already been crowned What Car? Convertible of the Year in 2021, 2022, and 2023, the BMW 4 Series Convertible continues to solidify its reputation.
What Car? Luxury Car of the Year - BMW X7
In the luxury car category, the BMW X7, the largest among BMW X models, secured the 'Luxury Car of the Year' award. Renowned for its spacious interior, advanced features, and a premium cabin accommodating up to seven occupants, the X7 was praised by Huntingford for seamlessly blending "limo-like interior space with a commanding driving position." He highlighted the X7's impressive interior design, featuring luxurious materials, polished glass elements, and expansive high-resolution screens. Additionally, the model's refined diesel engine, minimal wind and tire noise, and a balanced ride contributed to its recognition as the pinnacle of luxury in 2024.
