Design

How to bring the Audi sports car into the electric age? Well, with the e-tron GT , that means taking the long wheelbase and low body height that are synonymous with performance vehicles but also play a key role in helping aerodynamic efficiency. Despite measuring just 1.41 metres high, the e-tron GT quattro has a long 4.99-metre total length which gives it the proportions of a traditional long-distance cruiser.

Across much of the car’s front there are cooling air inlets which can actively be controlled to promote aerodynamic efficiency when driving normally, or cooling during sportier driving. The whole exterior of the car has been shaped by the air, which is why channels at the front help to direct airflow through and into the front wheel arches, helping to keep the brakes at their optimum temperature.

Without the need to cool an engine, Audi’s designers were able to push the famous Singleframe appearance beyond what it had been on conventional models, while also using it to disguise and contain many of the car’s key sensors. From the side, it’s easy to notice the new Audi e-tron GT’s sloped roofline and blended pillars, while at the rear there’s a large diffuser and a single, fully-width light - something we’ve seen on other Audi e-tron models.

Twenty-inch wheels are included as part of the e-tron GT’s price, though 21-inch versions in either grey or gloss black can be added as an optional extra should you want even more visual impact.

Audi’s interiors have always blended the very best materials with the latest technology and that’s definitely the case with the e-tron GT. Both driver and passenger can sit in the utmost comfort, with standard-fit sport seats providing both excellent support and eight-way electrical adjustment. They’re trimmed in a leather and synthetic leather mix, too, and they’re included in the Audi e-tron GT's price.

There’s a great amount of space on offer for those sitting in the rear, too, while clever packaging of the battery section beneath the passenger compartment means that foot space is plentiful. Then, when it comes to boot space, there are 405 litres on offer in the rear, alongside an additional 81 litres under the bonnet which is ideal for storing your charging cable.

Two highly-specified trim levels are available on each Audi e-tron GTs for sale. The base level includes a wide variety of standard features, with highlights including 20-inch alloy wheels, sport seats with integrated headrests and a panoramic roof, which helps to give the cabin of the car a bright, airy quality.

Step up to Vorsprung and you’ll find 20-inch wheels in an eye-catching five-spoke design added to the package, alongside high-performance Matrix LED headlights with Audi’s incredible laser light technology.

Those front seats are also upgraded to Sport Seats Pro versions, which bring 18-way adjustment and both ventilation and massage functions. They’re also finished in high-quality perforated Nappa leather. However, whichever trim level you opt for, you’re sure to find a lot of standard equipment included on the e-tron quattro GT.

Tech

As Audi’s flagship EV, the e-tron GT benefits from the very latest technology. Each Audi e-tron GT on sale gets a sharp 12.3-inch virtual cockpit setup behind the steering wheel, accessed via the multifunction steering wheel. This is then accompanied by a secondary touchscreen display, which measures 10.1 inches and houses all of the car’s key media and navigation functions.

Drivers can also change the way the dials ahead of them appear thanks to three different screen selections - classic, sport and e-tron. Each one brings its own unique look and feel, while a voice control function means that drivers can access various functions of the infotainment system without needing to use the touchscreen display. Simply press a button on a steering wheel, voice a command, and the car will do the rest.

Engines & Performance

The Audi e-tron GT uses a twin-motor setup, with one mounted on each axle. Combined, they produce a remarkable 469bhp, though 523bhp can be generated for 2.5 seconds when the car is put into boost mode via its on-board launch control system.

To aid efficiency, the e-tron GT uses a clever two-speed transmission. During normal, everyday driving, it sets off in second gear. This longer gear ratio helps to improve the e-tron GT range, while still bringing plenty of power. However, when launch control is enabled, the shorter first ratio is selected, giving instant response and huge acceleration away from the line.

Statistics

Thanks to the instant torque of the electric motors, the Audi e-tron GT will manage 0-60mph in just 3.9 seconds, with the quattro all-wheel-drive system providing superb traction even in wet conditions. The e-tron GT will continue to accelerate right the way to a top speed of 152mph, too.

When it comes to range, the e-tron GT is capable of travelling up to 295 miles* on a single charge, giving it real long-distance credentials. Plugged into an 11kW home charger, the e-tron GT's battery can be replenished overnight, though its real prowess lies in its rapid charging abilities. Being able to charge at speeds of up to 270kW means that the e-tron GT's range can be taken from 0-80 per cent in as little as 23 minutes, with 62 miles of range added in just over five minutes.
