Engines & Performance
Explore the spectrum of powertrain options within the A3 Sportback line up, all offering a unique driving experience. The Sport and S line trims provide three engine choices the 30 and 35 TFSI, including a manual or S tronic transmission or the 35 TDI S tronic engine accelerating to a top speed of 138 mph.
The Black Edition trim has three choices of engine. The 35 TFSI manual, the 35 TFSI S tronic or you can opt for the 35 TDI S tronic, getting you from 0-62 mph in just 8.3 seconds.

If you’re wanting the most performance, there is not much between the 35 TDI and the TFSI in terms of performance. Audi says the 35 TDI can go from 0-62mph in 8.3 seconds* and would accelerate to a top speed of 138mph*. Whereas the 35 TFSI can go from 0-62mph in 8.4 seconds* and would accelerate to a top speed of 139mph*.
In terms of efficiency, the 30 TFSI fairs better on fuel against the 35 TFSI with Audi claiming 50.4–54.3 mpg* and 127–118 g/km* CO2 emissions for the 30 TFSI. As for the diesel, with Audi claiming 56.5–58.9 mpg, with CO2 emissions of 131–126 g/km* for the 35 TDI.
